I was born and raised in Northern BC, and my health journey started as a young active kid. I grew up dancing for 13 years and had a few injuries along the way. I also grew up in an athletic family, watching people go through major traumatic injuries and I knew that I wanted to be in a career where I can help people similar to me and similar to the people I was surrounded by.
Out of high school, I initially studied Kinesiology, then I got into Athletic Therapy. After a year in Victoria in the AT program I wasn’t seeing the the benefits to my personal health with AT treatments as I hoped. After suffering with a chronic pain injury I was on the hunt for something that helped chronic pain suffers. Then one day I heard about Manual Osteopathy and how it significantly decreases chronic pain. Once I started studying manual osteopathy as well as began to receive treatments, I found my chronic pain starting to decrease. I also noticed how much trauma I stored in my body and how much was being released through osteopathic treatments, even my mental health was significantly increasing because I was processing and removing trauma. I would leave my treatments feeling lighter and like all of a sudden I had so much space to fill in my body physically and mentally with positive energy.
Once I graduated with my Diploma of Osteopathy Manual Practitioner in 2017 I jumped right into my Bachelors, then graduated with my Doctorate in Osteopathy (European practice) in January 2022. Right now I currently am just expanding my Cranial Osteopathy/Cranial Sacral Therapy knowledge through the Upledger Institute, but I do plan on completing another degree within in the next 4 years.
Osteopathy was originally founded because Dr. Still believed that you could heal the body without the use of drugs and surgeries. He created the 6 main philosophies of Osteopathic medicine which I base my practice on today. I use multiple hands on techniques to aid your body into healing and optimal functioning. One technique in particular is Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). This is the hands on treatment manual osteopathic practitioners use. It is gentle and non-invasive and focuses on finding the root cause of your pain. Using these techniques we can treat a wide range of dysfunction in the body including respiratory disorders, such as asthma, as well as irritable bowel syndrome and migraines/headaches. We look at all the body systems including visceral, neurological, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal which is what makes manual osteopaths stand out.
In my spare time you can find me outside exploring our beautiful backyard. If I am not working I am either on the trails or on the lake. I can’t wait to work with you along your health journey. There is nothing more rewarding than helping people become their healthiest and happiest self.
